S. African Sunflower Seeds Climb to Highest in More Than 5 Weeks

Sunflower seed futures in South Africa rose to the highest level in more than five weeks in Johannesburg. Corn dropped, while wheat gained.

Sunflower seeds for delivery in December rose 1 per cent to 4,515 rand ($409) a metric ton, the highest settlement for the contract since 12 August, by the midday close on the South African Futures Exchange.

White corn declined for a second day, losing 0.5 per cent to 1,788.20 rand a ton, while the yellow type fell 0.2 per cent to 1,834 rand a ton. South Africa is the continent’s biggest corn producer.

Wheat rose 0.2 per cent to 3,671 rand a ton.
