Coop Denmark has allocated set delivery times for elderly or infirm shoppers, in the face of growing demand for its Coop.dk MAD service due to the coronavirus.

The group said that it will allocate the period between 1pm and 4pm to this select group of shoppers, initially in the Greater Copenhagen region.

'Special Situation'

“We are in a very special situation right now," commented Coop Denmark's executive vice president Jan Madsen.

"We are receiving many inquiries from people who cannot leave their homes, and can't understand why we are unable to deliver to them faster. To assist them, we have reserved some selected delivery times for them."

Since the coronavirus outbreak took hold, Coop.dk MAD has doubled its number of consumers, Coop said.

Last week, its terminal in Vallensbæk was expanded with 50 new employees, and 'night teams' have also been established.
