E. Leclerc Ejected From Buying Group Coopernic

E. Leclerc has left buying group Coopernic, making way for a 'new strategic alliance' between remaining retailers Rewe, Conad, Coop Switzerland and Colruyt.

According to a statement from Rewe Group, which was released on Friday, the new group will take effect from 1 January 2014 and comes into play due to "irreconcilable differences about the future organization of the alliance and strategic direction," according to retail giant Rewe.

The establishment of the new group is subject to the approval of the relevant national authorities.

Coopernic was founded in 2006 as a strategic alliance between the five independent trading companies Colruyt (Belgium), Conad (Italy), Coop (Switzerland), E.Leclerc (France) and REWE Group.
