Maxima Latvija To Increase Employee Salaries

Maxima Latvija has announced it is to increase the salaries of its employees by an average of 7%, with the group investing €5.6 million in boosting employee pay packets this year.

In a statement, the retailer said that the latest increase will mean that the average overall salary for a Maxima worker has increased by up to 29% since 2016.

“Employees are a company’s greatest value," commented Maxima Latvija chairman Andris Vilcmeiers. "Maxima Latvija employs around 7,500 professionals, and we have established the promotion of their wellbeing and growth as one of our priorities."

The retailer said that wages will be increased for approximately 5,500 store employees, as well as those working in other departments, while it has also set aside €250,000 for developing employee skillsets.

"The work we have invested in innovative solutions, evaluating and improving operating processes, and automation has enabled us to become more efficient and make significant improvements to our customer shopping experience, price reductions and—most crucially—our work environment," Vilcmeiers added.
