Carrefour Italia Stops Sales Of Eggs From Caged Hens

Carrefour Italia has announced that since 1 March of this year, all of its 477 directly-owned stores no longer sell eggs produced by caged hens.

The stores include outlets trading under the banners Carrefour, Market Express, DocksMarket and Grossiper.

In addition, in the franchised stores supplies by Carrefour Italia that are exclusively supplied with eggs from non-caged hens, a public awareness campaign has been launched to promote purchases that meet the sustainability requirements.

This initiative is taking place despite the fact that the commercial contracts between Carrefour Italia and its franchisees do not enforce any restrictions in choosing product suppliers.

Carrefour Italia is planning for all its franchise outlets to become fully aligned with the company’s policy within a period of 30 months.
