7-Eleven Looking To Expand Into European Market

An executive member of the international convenience store chain 7-Eleven said yesterday that the company is currently carrying out feasibility studies regarding expansion into Europe.

Speaking at the ACS summit in Birmingham, 7-Eleven's head of international Chris Tanco revealed that the company "would like to get in before the market takes off economically because that would be the best time".

"We are most interested in the German and UK markets," Tanco is quoted as saying by the conveniencestore.co.uk website.

Tanco went on to say that 7-Eleven is looking for "entrepreneurial retailers who know their customers well," to join the franchise model.

"7-Eleven was very successful when we had stores in London about 15 years ago," said Tanco.

The American company currently has 52,000 stores in 16 countries around the world, and hopes to grow that to 20,000 stores by the end of the decade.
