Gerard Dorey, executive director of Carrefour's convenience division (taking in the Carrefour City, Carrefour Contact, Carrefour Express and Carrefour Montagne banners) told French magazine, Franchise, of the group's ambitions for 2013, with a raft of store openings planned.
"Our ambition is to continue the deployment of proximity stores under the Carrefour brand in 2013, we hope to count 1,350 stores by the end of 2013, and open 70-80 stores under the four banners; Carrefour City, Carrefour Contact, Carrefour Express and Carrefour Montagne," Dorey said.
Having recently opened its 1,000th convenience store, Dorey said that 330 were opened last year. Carrefour Montagne (Mountain) was launched as a new banner during 2012, with 17 stores now in operation in the Alps and Pyrenees, with the aim of 3-4 openings per year. (31 Jan)
