Judith McKenna, Asda's current finance director and a previous winner at the ESM European Businesswomen of the Year Awards, has been promoted to become the UK supermarket's new chief operating officer. McKenna will take on the new role in September, succeeding Simon King.
McKenna has worked at Asda for over 15 years, and was responsible for the integration of the company's financial platform after Walmart took over the supermarket chain in 1999.
In her new position, she will take charge of all the firm's retail operations, including its stores, distribution network and IT systems. (4 July)
