Spar Oman Set To Expand Operations In 2017

Spar Oman has reported that it has opened its 15th supermarket, and has plans to open a further 15 Spar Express outlets in the country this year.

The new, convenience-focused Spar supermarket has a retail area of around 395 square metres, around one fifth of which offers greens, fish and meat.

The new Spar Express outlets are to be developed in Muscat, in partnership with Nakheel United Enterprises LLC. They will use the sites of existing Al Maha forecourt shops, which will be refurbished. The new convenience outlets will be run by independent retailers.

M. Sridhar, CEO of Spar Oman, commented, "We are proud to be launching a new concept in entrepreneurship, one that will benefit the local SMEs through sub-licencing; a win-win strategy, in which we expect to build long-term partnerships with entrepreneurs, and help them grow their business."

Abdullah Amur Mohammed Al Sawaie, chairman of Nakheel United Enterprises LLC, added, " We look forward to this opportunity to engage with Spar, which will help us raise our retail standards to a global level".
