2018 Calinda Strawberry Season Has Early, Successful Start

The Calinda strawberry season began several weeks ago, producing high-quality, sweet, juicy fruit with a long shelf life.

Special Fruit is the world’s largest Calinda grower, and it has planted a total of 170 hectares together with its partners. The company expects this to result in five million kilos of fruit this season, which is a significant increase compared to last year.

Calinda is grown with great care outdoors, in the warm Mediterranean climate of southern Europe.

Recognised Brand

Calinda is starting to become a recognised brand among retailers and consumers in Europe. The attractive 400g packaging with a recipe book has certainly contributed to this.

It’s not a surprise that over 30 retailers in 20 European countries sold Calinda in their shops last year, and this is sure to increase this year, too. Furthermore, Special Fruit is offering a wide range of packaging options.

Many customers who have successfully imported Calinda in previous seasons have now decided to import the strawberries under their own private labels. These products are co-branded with the Calinda logo, due to its recognition among consumers.

Characteristics

The Calinda season lasts until June, which means that there is plenty of time to enjoy these sweet, juicy, attractive strawberries.

Calinda strawberry characteristics include an intense, sweet flavour, a beautiful shape and colour, a firm bite with soft, juicy flesh, a long shelf life, and an integrated supply chain supervised by Special Fruit.

In short, these strawberries are proven to provide higher sales figures and attractive margins, plus increased re-buying by consumers.
