UK supermarket giant Tesco has reportedly had to suspend more than 2,000 Tesco.com customer accounts following a cyber attack.
The online accounts, details of login names and passwords were shared on a text-sharing website this week.
It is understood the account details was used by hackers to steal Clubcard vouchers.
The sensitive information was compiled by hackers using details stolen from other websites, said the supermarket chain.
“We have contacted all customers who may have been affected and are committed to ensuring that none of them miss out as a result of this,” said a Tesco spokesperson, in an interview with BBC News.
“We will issue replacement vouchers to the very small number affected.”
The security of its customer data was of the utmost importance to the retailer, said the supermarket's spokesperson, and apologised to any customers affected.
“We are conducting a thorough review of our processes to ensure this never happens again.”
Tesco was also affected by the stealing of customer Clubcard points last year, when customers reported their loyalty card accounts had been accessed.
