Carlsberg Group has announced the appointment of João Abecasis as its new chief commercial officer, effective 1 December 2019.
Abecasis, who most recently served as the managing director for Brasseries Kronenbourg in France, will replace Jessica Spence in the position.
An Industry Veteran
He is an industry veteran with years of experience in various sales and marketing roles.
Abecasis joined the Carlsberg Group, in 2011, as the vice-president of sales of Super-Bock in Portugal.
He took on the role of the managing director of Super-Bock in 2013, followed by the vice-president of challenger markets in the Western European region in 2016.
Between August 2016 to February 2017, he also served as the interim managing director of Carlsberg Denmark.
Before joining Carlsberg, Abecasis spent more than 15 years in Unilever in various roles across different categories and markets, including that of the global head of shopper and customer marketing in London.
