Molson Coors Creates New European Segment

Molson Coors has announced the formation of a new business segment, Molson Coors Europe; the amalgamation of its UK and Ireland business and its central European business. Effective from January 1, 2013, the new division will be headquartered in Prague and will comprise approximately 23.6 million hectoliters of volume and $2.3 billion of net sales revenue, making up 30 per cent of the group's global net sales revenue.

Peter Swinburn, group CEO said the move will make the North American brewer “a stronger competitor.” He added, "With a larger European footprint, we’ll be able to negotiate better terms with suppliers, improve processes and integrate systems to increase efficiencies.”

The move will see Molson Coors Central Europe (formerly known as StarBev when acquired in June) and Molson Coors UK & Ireland combine into a single entity. The new unit will be headed up by Mark Hunter, CEO of Molson Coors Central Europe and former head of the UK & Ireland business. The current head of the UK & Ireland division, Stewart Glendinning, will become CEO of Molson Coors Canada, once Dave Perkins retires at the end of January.

It was also announed that Celso White, chief supply chain officer for the international business, will take on the role of global chief supply chain officer, following the retirement of Greg Wade at the end of the year. (2 Sept)
