Navarra DO Regulator Council Describes 2015 Vintage As 'Very Good'

Navarra's DO Regulator Council has described the region's 2015 vintage as 'Very Good'. This evaluation was announced following an analysis of reports sent to the council by Instituto Navarro de Tecnologías e Infraestructuras Agroalimentarias (INTIA).

According to the website gondoladigital.com, the 2015 harvest was of very good quality and young wines performed strongly at organoleptic tastings that were held recently.

However, the region has been beset by complicated weather conditions. A late winter with a wet November and a similar December was followed by a dry spring that was hotter than usual. August and September were optimum for ripening because they both were fresh and dry.

The vintage commenced on August 24 in Corella, and Moscato was the first grape to be picked. The Grenache, Tempranillo and Merlot varieties were among the highest yielding in the region.
