The French drinks giant Pernod Ricard has announced that AlexandreRicard will take up the post of global MD for distribution at PernodRicard from September 1st. Ricard, the nephew of PernodRicard's chairman, Patrick Ricard, held the position of CEO and chairman of Irish Distillers since 2008.
He presided over a period of strong growth for the group's Jameson whiskey brand. Net sales of Jameson whiskey grew by 22 per cent for the first nine months of Pernod's fiscal year to March 2011. AlexandreRicard will take over the distribution position from the group's CEO Pierre Pringuet, who acquired the responsibilities a year ago, following the departure of Michel Bord. Anna Malmhake, MD of Absolut, will replace Ricard at Irish Distillers.
Noël Adrian, who was previously MD of PernodRicard Italy, will become the group's deputy MD for Europe. (8 July)
