Grupo Cañigueral Acquires Far Jamón Serrano

Spanish meat processing company Grupo Cañigueral has acquired 100 per cent of Far Jamón Serrano. According to RevistaInfoRetail.com, its plan is to now diversify its portfolio and explore the jamón serrano export market.

Grupo Cañigueral is currently a supplier of fresh ham that exports to six countries, including the US. Thanks to this purchase, it'll be able to export the finished product, adding more value to its offer.

Far Jamón Serrano, which ended 2015 with sales above €12 million, owns a processing plant located in the municipality of Les Preses (Girona).

This facility employs 40 workers and has the capacity to dry between 6,000 and 7,000 hams a week.

Grupo Cañigueral is a family-owned company based in Girona, and besides the newly acquired Far Jamón Serrano, the group also owns three other companies: Frigoríficos Costa Brava, Embutidos Monter and Coopecarn.
