Spain To Increase Lemon Production By 22%

Spanish lemon association AILIMPO anticipates growth of 22% in production for the coming 2016-2017 season in Spain.

According to AILIMPO, Spain could produce around 980,000 tonnes of lemons during the season, cementing its position as the leading EU provider of the fruit, holding 80% of the market.

AILIMPO emphasised the importance of the weather in the coming weeks, in order to determine availability of the fruit in the market in September.

Last season, Spain produced 802,680 tonnes of lemons.
