Jumbo Expands Board of Directors

Dutch grocer Jumbo has appointed two new directors to its board, with Matthijs Moeken, currently marketing director at C1000, to become marketing director at Jumbo, and Duncan Hoy, retail operations director of C1000, to become store operations director at both Jumbo and C1000.

Frits van Eerd, chief executive at the Netherlands-based Group, described the appointments as the 'next phase' in Jumbo's integration process with C1000, allowing the retailer to 'create more focus' within the management of the organisation.

Matthij Moeken's position at C1000 will be taken up by C1000 chief executive Niels Onkenhout, while Duncan Hoy will continue to serve on the C1000 board. Moeken and Hoy will take up their new positions from 1 July 2013.

Netherlands-based Jumbo has 338 stores and some 28,000 staff. In 2012, the retailer recorded a turnover of €3.228 billion. C1000 has over 350 supermarkets in the Netherlands and is the second largest chain in the region. Jumbo acquired the C1000 banner from CVC Capital Partners in late 2011 for an undisclosed sum.
