New Training Opportunities At Lidl

German retailer Lidl has created 1,500 new apprenticeships, offering young people a chance to start a career in retail. The new trainees have started their first year of training on 1 August.

The company offers training in the fields of trade, logistics, IT, human resources and media design. Each trainee is allocated a mentor and receives a training allowance.

"A thorough foundational training is very important at the start of a new phase of life. It is important to us to give our trainees the best possible additional support in their personal development", said Dorotea Mader, Manager of Human Resources at Lidl Germany.

The option of choice among trainees is a three-year training programme for sales assistant in retail, followed by a two-year training programme for sales manager.

Lidl is one of the leading companies in food retailing in Germany, operating with around 3,200 branches and more than 75,000 employees.
