Portugal's Jumbo Opens First New Hypermarket In Four Years

Auchan Portugal has opened a new Jumbo hypermarket in Sintra, its first since 2011.

This Jumbo store, its 30th, required an investment of €26 million and consists of about 10,000 square metres of sales area, with around 40,000 products. The new hypermarket features a petrol forecourt, a shopping arcade with 17 stores, and the Drive service.

As a result of partnerships with local suppliers, the product offer includes numerous regional products, such as fruits and vegetables, nuts, cakes and wine. In addition to the standard butcher, fishmonger and bakery/pastry areas, there is also a sushi stand and a new area dedicated to biological products.

A discount area provides customers with all the basic necessities at the lowest prices available. Customers also have at their disposal an express checkout area plus the opportunity to make online purchases while in-store.
