Edeka Creates Its First Children's Magazine

German retail cooperative Edeka has created a new food magazine for children. The free periodical, titled, 'Yummi' is aimed at the age group 7 to 12. Published every two months - in an edition of 400,000 - the new magazine will be available from most Edeka outlets in Germany.

In addition to providing information about nutrition and the environment in an entertaining format, the magazine will feature hands-on recipes, tips for diet and exercise, puzzles, crafts and competitions.

"With Yummi we are creating a unique reading experience for children, contributing to their knowledge of nutrition in a playful and child-friendly way," said Rolf Lange, CEO of Publishing for Edeka.

The first edition of the magazine (October 2016) explores the themes of 'Autumn' and 'Halloween'. Contributions include the life-story of an apple - from tree to checkout - and an interview with a young American, living in Germany, about 'Thanksgiving'.

'Yummi' is the second free magazine published by the Edeka Group, after its customer magazine 'With Love', which has offered recipes, tips, product recommendations and reports on product-quality since 2007.
