Coop Denmark Announces Plan To Close Warehouse In Vejen

Coop Denmark has announced that it will close its warehouse in Vejen, and integrate its operations to the Odense Distribution Centre, effective 1 October.

Supply chain director at Coop, Nicolaj Boysen, said, "We have a super-modern and high-tech centre in Odense, where we have more capacity than we utilise today. Therefore, it will be [...] more economically sensible to distribute the goods from there in the future."

Alternative Arrangements

Permanent stock workers in the warehouse have been offered jobs in the Odense distribution centre.

A special bonus will also be given to employees who have opted to continue working in the Vejen warehouse until it closes.

Boysen added, "There are many employees who have worked skilfully and loyally for many years for us. Therefore, we will do everything we can to ensure that they have the opportunity to continue with us."

The warehouse, established in 1963, supplies groceries to Kvickly, SuperBrugsen, and Dagli´Brugsen in Southern Jutland, Central Jutland, and Funen.

All these areas will now rely on the services from the Odense distribution centre.

Coop has agreed to lease the building in the distribution centre in Vejen to external tenants.
