Tate & Lyle has announced the appointment of John Cheung as a non-executive director on its board, as well as a member of its audit and nominations committee.

Cheung is currently an executive director at dairy firm China Feihe Limited and 'brings a breadth of food and beverage experience with a deep understanding of markets in Asia, particularly in China', according to Tate & Lyle.

He also previously served as president of Wyeth Nutrition Global, as well as leading Nestlé's business in China and holding senior roles with Coca-Cola and Procter & Gamble.

“I am delighted that John has agreed to join the Board. His appointment recognises the importance of the Asia Pacific region to Tate & Lyle’s growth and development," commented Gerry Murphy, chairman of Tate & Lyle.

"His substantial experience in the Chinese and broader Asian food and beverage industry will be of significant benefit to the board."
