Carrefour Brasil Introduces Private Label Beer

Carrefour Brasil has launched a private label beer range in partnership with local brewers Way Beer and Startup Brewing.

The Nauta brand offers 11 SKUs, of which six are available in bottles and five in cans.

The Range

The 600ml bottled variants, produced by Way Beer brewery, are priced at R$ 11.99 and offer artisan recipes inspired by different countries.

These include Bohemian Pilsner, Indian Pale Ale, Irish Red Ale, Weissbier, Blond Ale, and Amburana Ale.

The canned beer range, produced by Startup Brewing, is priced at R$ 7.99 and offers brews ranging from classic to innovative.

These include the orange flavoured Witbier, grape juice infused Saison, and the dark beer Porter with a hint of coconut.

It also offers two Indian pale ale variants – Session IPA with less alcohol and the tastier IPA version.

The move is a first for Carrefour in Brazil, which already sells own brand beer in Spain, France and Belgium.

Special Beers

In November 2019, retailer Grupo Pão de Açúcar launched its own brand Fábrica 1959 in four variants, targeting a 25% share in the special beers category within one year.

Carrefour expects to gain a 10% market share in the artisan beer category.

In recent years, the demand for craft beers has registered an annual growth of around 30% in Brazil.
