TPG Capital In Talks To Buy Peroni And Grolsch

Private investment company TPG Capital and Paul Walsh, the former Diageo CEO, are working to agree terms with SABMiller for the purchase of leading beer brands Peroni and Grolsch, TheDrinksBusiness.com reports.

Industry analysts have estimated that the brands combined should generate a fee in the region of £2 billion, according to Sky News. Sources told the news network that talks are still in the “early stages”, but carry weight that could manifest in a sale.

Grolsch and Peroni have become available as part of SABMiller's buy-over by fellow multinational brewer AB InBev, which is behind brands such as Budweiser and Stella Artois.

Several weeks ago, AB InBev said that it “will contact potential purchasers in the coming weeks to assess their interest in the Peroni and Grolsch brand families and their associated businesses in Italy, the Netherlands and the UK”.
