Walmart Expands Click-And-Collect Network

Walmart has announced an expansion of its click-and-collect service to Salt Lake City and Ogden, Utah; Nashville, Tennessee; Tucson, Arizona; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Atlanta, Georgia; Charlotte and Fayetteville, North Carolina, among other locations, techcrunch.com reports.

Its click-and-collect model is in general slightly different to its European equivalent: when a customer is either at the side or front of a Walmart store, he or she calls a number which is given on his or her email receipt; following this, a store employee brings the groceries to the customer, and loads the goods for him or her.

The service is already available at Walmart hypermarkets in San Jose, California; Bentonville, Arkansas; Phoenix, Arizona; Denver, Colorado; and Huntsville, Alabama.

Michael Bender, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Walmart Global e-commerce, commented, “The majority of what we see coming and the focus of the Walmart customer base is largely women – that’s what we a lot of. We see a lot of women with kids in car seats, who are moving from place to place throughout the day.”
