Jerónimo Martins Plans New Distribution Centre In Poland
Portuguese retail group Jerónimo Martins plans to open its 16th distribution centre for its Polish supermarket chain Biedronka during the third quarter of 2017, reports Dinheiro Vivo.
Covering about 28,000 square metres and located in the western region of Poland, the centre will create around 250 jobs.
This development is part of the retailer’s expansion plans for 2017, which will involve a €400 million investment in Poland.
This year, Jerónimo Martins aims to open 100 new Biedronka stores across Poland, 11 of which have already opened in the first quarter.
The group will also invest around €10 million in the Hebe health and beauty chain, up from €6 million last year. Hebe CEO Sacha Djokic told journalists that most of this investment will go towards the opening of new stores.
Seven new Hebe stores have been opened since the start of the year, and the goal is to open around 30 more stores in high traffic areas such as shopping centres.
