Lidl Pilots 'My Lidl Shop' Game App In Portugal

Discounter Lidl has selected Portugal to launch 'My Lidl Shop', a game app for the whole family which allows children to create their own retail business.

Available for iOS and Android devices, the retail game aims to make the family trip to the local Lidl store more entertaining and educational, linking the virtual world with that of physical stores.

My Lidl Shop is part of an international project of the German retailer, with Portugal selected as the country for the pilot launch.

The game consists of three phases, with each player taking care of the business side, enabling it to grow from a local market to a larger supermarket. This requires efficient management of resources and ensuring the maximum satisfaction of consumers.

Tasks include the purchase of trolleys, the construction of parking lots and the hiring of employees, financed using virtual coins, which can be obtained by scanning product barcodes in Lidl bricks-and-mortar stores.

Fresh produce must always be available, stock needs to be replenished regularly, while at the same time respecting Lidl’s motto ('highest quality at the best price'), because well-served consumers guarantee higher levels of store satisfaction.

The My Lidl Shop application can be used offline and does not request or store user data.
