Auchan Recalls Private Label Burgers After Positive E.Coli Test

French retailer Auchan has recalled a number of its private label burgers after traces of E.coli were detected in them, reports Le Figaro.

The possible contaminated products, which were sold between 21 June and 26 June, appear under the brand Les Economiques, and as non-branded Auchan private label items. They are supplied by the meat supplier VF, located in Chateaubriant, Loire-Atlantique.

Product Testing

The director of quality control for VF, Antoine Duvinage, said, “This is the first time I’m aware of that we have had this type of problem. In six tests of more than 465 kg of meat, only one came up positive [for E.coli].”

Auchan is offering customer refunds upon return of the burger products.
