Waitrose has confirmed that it will end the trial of Boots products in 13 of its stores with the Boots products being replaced by existing Waitrose own-label or branded products. “It didn’t meet the expectations of either partner. But that’s the whole point of having a trial - to learn what works,” said a spokeswoman for the company.
The trial, which began in March 2010, saw featured Boots health and beauty goods being listed in Waitrose stores, Waitrose foods being listed in Boots, and Boots-branded pharmacies established in some Waitrose stores.
While Waitrose will end the trial of Boots products in its stores, Waitrose products will still be sold in Boots, and existing Boots pharmacies will continue to operate in Waitrose stores. (1 Feb)
