BWG Group Seeks To Keep Growing In Ireland

Leo Crawford, Chairman of Spar Ireland and Chief Executive of BWG Group, has announced that the Group plans to increase the number of Spar outlets in Ireland over the next year.

Addressing the audience at the recent Spar 'Fresh Focus' Convention, Leo Crawford said, "While challenges remain in the market place, including the continued uncertainty over Brexit, improving economic conditions are changing how consumers are shopping, providing new and exciting opportunities for convenience retailers in Ireland."

Believing 'convenience' to be high on the agenda for Irish consumers, he explained that the retailer's focus, for that reason, was on fresh food, innovation and digital trends. He anticipated "new growth opportunities for the business and continued store growth in 2017 and beyond".

The 'Fresh Focus' Convention, held in Killarney on 3 October, saw 450 Spar representatives from stores across Ireland join in discussing new opportunities and best practice, regarding external factors to challenge the retail sector.
