ECR Sell More, Waste Less Working Group Plans Next Virtual Meeting

The ECR Sell More, Waste Less Working Group has announced details of its latest virtual meeting, taking place on 18 and 19 November.

The event, which kicks off at 13:00 CET on both days, will see retailer presentations and roundtable discussions on measures being taken to combat food waste and maximise sales.

Wednesday 18 November will see a food waste reduction case study by Sonae, which will examine learnings from a three-year, company-wide holistic strategy undertaken by the Portuguese retailer.

This will be followed by an assessment of food waste during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as a startup showcase, featuring up and coming firms with a focus on tackling food waste.

On Thursday 19 November, Woolworths will examine how its trial of 2D-embedded bar codes helped improve expiry date visibility at the retailer; Walmart and Kroger will offer updates on production planning compliance; and Lidl, Giant and Sandpiper will give an overview of the benefits, challenges and opportunities offered by near expiry date apps such as TooGoodToGo and Gander.
