Spanish supermarket group Mercadona is to hire 9,000 new employees for the summer campaign of 2018, starting in May and ending in September.
The company said that it expands its workforce in such a manner so as to mantain excellent service in a period heavy with tourism. It also guarantees Mercadona’s regular employees the opportunity to avail of holidays.
This year sees the employment of an extra 2,000 additional personnel, compared to the 7,000 that were added last summer. All new workers will receive a net salary of €1,132 per month and training adapted to the job.
Mercadona spokesperson José Elías Portalés, said that the group's aim "is to offer our ‘bosses’ [Mercadona’s clients] the same excellent service they receive the rest of the year when they buy daily in the more than 1,600 stores that we have distributed throughout Spain.”
The Spanish retailer recently announced a turnover of €22.9 billion, a 6% increase, after record investment in its store network.
