Online grocer Ocado has launched a shopping wall in the Bullring shopping centre in Birmingham, England. The interactive wall will be live for a month. Shoppers can order groceries on their smartphones; they can do this by scanning the barcode next to the grocery images using Ocado’s 'on the go' app.
The pure-play online retailer has already piloted similar shopping walls at One New Change shopping centre in London and Cabot Circus in Bristol. Ocado co-founder Jason Gissing said, "The Bullring shopping centre is such an iconic location, and we can’t wait to see how much easier this will make the lives of both our existing fans and new customers alike, as they use our innovative service to take away the hassle of the weekly shop – no crowds, no long checkout queues, no heavy bags."
"This is the future of retail in the UK, and it’s here right now." (24 Jul)
