Coop Switzerland Buys Aperto Convenience Chain

Retailer Coop Switzerland has purchased convenience player Aperto Group to consolidate its position in the retail sector, it announced at the weekend.

The Swiss group, previously owned by a joint partnership between Hofer Holding AG and Villars Holding AG, has stores in train stations and service stations in 'attractive' locations around the country.

"With its convenience stores, Aperto is of great interest to us," said Joos Sutter, chairman of the executive board of the Coop Group. "I am delighted to welcome these new employees and points of sale, which, situated in train stations, will complete our sales network."

Coop is most interested in Aperto's train-station shops and will transfer the service stations to Oel-Pool AG in 2017.
