Lidl Presents New Store Concepts For Urban Areas

Lidl has presented a number of new store concepts for urban areas at the property fair Expo-Real, in Munich.

As reported by Lebensmittel Zeitung, with the experience that Lidl has earned with stores in densely populated areas abroad, it now wants to establish stores in busy German urban areas.

One of the concepts, which Lidl has already tested in other countries, is to locate a store on the ground floor of a residential complex. The apartments are placed on the upper floors, while a car park for customers may be situated in the basement floor.

In this way, the discounter only needs half the space as usual.

"We want to show towns and developers that we are flexible," a Lidl spokesperson told Lebensmittel Zeitung.
