McCain To Open Its First Frozen French Fries Plant In Brazil
McCain Foods has announced plans to open its first frozen french fries production facility in the city of Araxá in Brazil.
The frozen foods maker will invest around $100 million in the new facility, which is expected to open in the first half of 2021.
It will generate 150 direct jobs, 450 indirect jobs and positively impact approximately 750 farmers and agricultural professionals, McCain said.
The new facility will increase McCain’s production capacity in Latin America, and also consolidate its position in the Brazilian market.
The general director of McCain in Brazil, Aluizio Neto, said, "With the construction of the new factory in Brazil, McCain will enhance its distribution, create efficiencies in supply and consequently improve its service level and product offering in the local market."
Brazil is the fifth largest frozen, pre-fried, potato market in the world, making it a major focus area for McCain's business strategy.
McCain is one of the world's top 10 most valuable food brands and offers a range of products including frozen french fries, potato specialties, and appetisers.
