Albert Heijn Launches Recipe Chatbot In Facebook Messenger

Dutch retailer Albert Heijn has launched a new online service, which will automatically send customers recipes via the Facebook Messenger app.

The Allerhande chatbot, which is connected to the retailer's existing Allerhande recipe service, will provide users with a selection of recipes and information in a quick and interactive manner.

For example, customers can be automatically sent a 'recipe of the day', or can send a food emoji and will then receive recipes that contain that ingredient. Users can also ask questions, and will be given a personal response from one of Allerhande's culinary experts.

New Technologies

Albert Heijn says that chatbots are becoming more popular with consumers and businesses, especially for interacting with millenials. This new service is part of the retailer's plan to introduce new technologies to 'inform, inspire, and help customers'.

Earlier this year, Albert Heijn utilised Facebook Messenger to encourage consumers to eat more vegetables, as part of its 'AH Groenteboost' (AH Vegetable Boost) programme.
