Big Wins For Tesco Own-Label Wine At International Wine Awards

British supermarket Tesco has scooped over 100 medals for its own-label wine at the International Wine Awards.

The retailer collected 132 gongs, including 5 gold, 21 silver and 45 bronze medals, with 98 per cent of the wines it entered into the awards receiving a medal.

Amongst the 132 medals, the supermarket's own-label wines were awarded 5 gold medals for its finest line - Amontillado, Vintage Grand Cru Champagne, Dessert Semillon, Chablis and Sancerre.

The supermarket also won 21 silver medals, 45 bronze medals and 61 commended medals with the Tesco range and Value wines also named winners.

In the sparkling range,  the Bella Cucina Prosecco collected a silver medal while Tesco Cava Brut won the bronze medal.

Meanwhile, from its Simply range, the retailer won bronze medals for Simply Garnacha, Simply Garnacha Rosé and Simply Soave Classico-Bronze Medal.

Commenting on its success for its private-label wines, Jason Tarry, chief product officer at Tesco, said: “We are delighted that our wines have proven to be amongst the best in the world. With 98 per cent of the wines we entered into the competition receiving a medal, it’s testament to our belief that offering customers great quality wine at affordable prices is truly a winning combination.”
