Carrefour Belgium To Stop Selling Plastic Cotton Swabs

Carrefour Belgium has announced that it will cease the sale of plastic cotton swabs as of 1 March 2019.

The retailer plans to replace the swabs with organic and non-organic swabs developed from paper.

The move makes Carrefour the first retailer in Belgium to remove plastic swabs from sale across its network.

Other Initiatives

Carrefour reported that it will also replace plastic straws, goblets, cutlery and disposable glasses with sustainable alternatives.

These measures are being implemented as a part of Carrefour's Act for Food programme.
