Carrefour Spain Raises Level Of Fresh Produce Available Online

Carrefour Spain is challenging rivals Amazon and El Corte Inglés by offering a more bountiful selection of fresh produce available online, with 75% of customers including fruits and vegetables in their order.

Carrefour's online sales platform in Spain  has received more than 80 million visits so far this year and is expecting to close 2016 with over 700,000 orders, according to a press release. Thirty-five per cent of its traffic comes via smartphones.

Javier López, director of e-commerce at Carrefour Spain, pointed out that the company was a 'pioneer' in the digital world and added that due to its 173 hypermarkets and  114 supermarkets, the company is strong both on and off-line.
