Dutch retailer Coop Supermarkten has announced that it will add the PlanetProof quality mark to dairy products that are sourced from sustainable resources.
The ‘On the way to PlanetProof’ (Milieukeur) label, which conforms to the Dutch environmental criteria for a range of products and services, will be added to a wide range of dairy products.
These will go on sale in more than 300 Coop supermarkets from the beginning of 2019.
Products that acquire the PlanetProof quality mark score well on various aspects of sustainability, including animal welfare and biodiversity.
Through this initiative, the retailer aims to bring about a difference in the dairy sector by encouraging producers to engage in sustainable dairy production practices.
