Fruit supplier Driscoll’s is kicking off the Dutch strawberry season with the first harvest of this year’s crop of the successful Driscoll's® Lusa™ strawberries.

Driscoll's® Lusa™ strawberries are known for their large size, light red colour and exceptional flavour.

An early start to the strawberry season means that consumers can enjoy Driscoll's® Lusa™ strawberries as of this week.

Dutch farmer Jan Diepstraten, who is part of growers’ association Best of Four, is growing this unique variety for Driscoll’s.

"This year, our glasshouse strawberries are very juicy and sweet. Driscoll's® Lusa™ is a high-quality strawberry that stays fresh for a longer period of time," he said.

"We put a lot of effort and care in our berry plants, so that right from the start of the season, only the finest berries end up on the consumer’s plate."

Driscoll’s is continually investing in the development of new strawberry varieties to introduce to the market. One if its latest varieties is the exclusive Driscoll's® Elizabeth™, an extra-sweet berry due to be harvested in May.
