Tesco Salad Sales Triple As Brits Favour Healthier Lunch Habits

Latest retail figures for Tesco show that Brits are favouring leafy on-the-go salad options versus the traditional sandwich for lunchtime dining, as salad-to-go sales have risen by nearly 300 per cent in the past year.

The UK market has seen an extra 3.1 million leafy salads sold to shoppers in the last 52 weeks, compared to the same time period the previous year.

This week, Tesco has taken the opportunity to maximise the growing demand for healthier foods by revamping its ready-to-eat-salad range. Working with top chefs in the industry, Tesco has introduced a new range of salads that include salmon and wheat berry, superfood grains, Thai chicken with vegetables, and Moroccan cauliflower couscous.

In the past three years, Britain has seen demand for healthy salads virtually double each year, currently making it the fastest-growing area in the on-the-go food market.
