Iceland Foods’ Irish Operation Reduces Losses

The Irish arm of frozen food retailer Iceland Foods posted losses of €771,000 in the year to the end of March, down from €2.93 million a year earlier, reports The Irish Times.

The retailer saw its Irish revenues rise 32% to €21.8 million, the paper reported. It currently operates 12 stores in the Republic of Ireland, and is said to be ‘seeking additional sites’, having recently opened in Coolock, Dublin and Clonmel, Tipperary

The group employs some 250 people in Ireland, with its employment costs standing at €2.96 million for the year, up from €2.4 million a year earlier.

Headquatered in Deeside, UK, Iceland Foods recently announced it is to end the sale of eggs from caged hens by 2025, in a move that the retailer says fits in with its approach of ‘doing the right thing: our brand stands for high quality food that is produced both humanely and sustainably’.
