Russian retailer Lenta has opened its first hypermarket in Cherkessk, in the southwestern Republic of Karachaevo-Cherkessiya.

The new store comes in Lenta’s ‘compact’ format and is located on 387 Lenina street. It has a total area of 7,950 square metres with 4,311 square metres of selling space and is open 8am to 11pm, seven days a week, according to Lenta.

It hosts 345 parking spaces and 18 cash registers including four self-checkout lanes.

The store offers a broad assortment of 17,000 SKUs, which have been specifically selected to suit the local residents and it includes Lenta’s private labels and federal product ranges alongside local produce, the retailer said.

The new opening is Lenta’s 33rd hypermarket launch in 2017 and brings the total number of Lenta stores to 224 hypermarkets in 81 cities across Russia and 78 supermarkets in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg and the Central region.

The retailer just recently opened its first hypermarket in Achinsk in central Russia as well as its 19th hypermarket in Moscow.

Lenta also announced recently that it was expanding its ‘Growers Platform’ to boost and streamline its agricultural supply.
