Maxima Relaunches Two Stores In Latvian Capital Riga

Maxima Latvia has relaunched two stores in the capital city of Riga, following a €1.4 million renovation project that involved modernising the outlets and improving energy efficiency.

Renovation of the stores began in the middle of July this year.

A Gradual Process

Maxima Latvija board member, Viktors Troicins, pointed out, “This year, we have begun gradual reconstruction of a great number of stores of various formats throughout Latvia, starting with Maxima X stores and continuing with more extensive reconstruction in shopping centres.

“We are proud that we have begun using innovative environmentally-friendly freezer equipment which does not use freon, but instead a CO2 system.”

The renovation of Kurzemes Prospekts Maxima XX involved remodelling its interior, replacing the engineering network, and improving the energy efficiency of the building.

Energy-efficient LED lighting has been installed in the store’s 1,700 square-metre shopping area.

The store is also equipped with energy-efficient, eco-friendly cooling systems.

The Lithuanian retailer has invested around €830,000 in upgrading the store.

Better Shopping Experience

The other store that was relaunched is an 849 square metre Maxima X outlet located at 29b Mazā Nometņu Iela.

Apart from a new interior, the internal engineering network of the store was replaced during the four-month-long renovation process, which cost around €660,000.

The relaunches form part the retailer’s €23 million investment plan which aims to improve the shopping experience of customers.

The company aims to renovate around 15 stores in Latvia by the end of the year.
