Despar Italia has added asparagus grown in the Altedo region, in Italy, to its premium private-label assortment.
Branded as the ‘Green Asparagus of Altedo’, the vegetable is characterised by a refined and herbaceous taste.
The asparagus sold under the banner is IGP certified – recognition given to produce from select municipalities in the area around Altedo, in the provinces of Bologna and Ferrara.
The ‘Green Asparagus of Altedo’ is grown under specific conditions in the sandy soils of the Po Valley, where winters are wet and foggy.
The vegetable is harvested during the coolest hours of the day, to preserve moisture.
Asparagus has countless health benefits and helps in preventing skin-ageing, water retention, and cellulite formation.
