Despar Italia Sees 5.4% Growth In Private-Label Sales

Despar Italia saw 5.4% annual growth in sales of its private-label range during 2018 – higher than the market average.

Private label accounted for 19.3% of total sales at the Italian retailer, which introduced 267 new private-label SKUs last year and updated a further 106.

Overall, Despar Italia now offers more than 3,000 private-label SKUs across 15 brands.

Among the launches last year was the Special Edition range, unveiled in December, which included products such as Mortadella di Mora Romagnola IGP, Parmigiano Reggiano Millesimato and Salame di Varzi DOP.

Other strong performers included the Scelta Verde range of organic smoked salmon and organic cheese, the Vital range of healthy-eating products, and a new range of fruit and vegetable products packaged in 100% compostable packaging, part of the Passo doppo Passo range.


Marca Launch

At the Marca exhibition in mid-January, Despar Italia presented a new range of fresh fruit, vegetable and superfood extracts that are 100% natural, organic, and of Italian origin, which will arrive in stores in February.

The Scelta Verde BioLogico range consists of five references: apple, carrot and turmeric; apple, spinach, celery and lemon; apple, pineapple, ginger and lime; apple, peach and raspberry; and orange and mango.
