Auchan Hypermarket Houses Seventeenth-Century Art

Auchan’s hypermarket in Noyelles-Godault (Pas-de-Calais) is at present housing works of art from Le Musée du Louvre-Lens, 20Minutes.fr reports.

It hopes the cultural element of the store, which occupies 60 square metres of floor space, will stimulate interest and sales. Specifically, on show are seventeenth-century works by Charles Le Brun, the court painter of Louis XIV at Versailles.

Information booklets decorated in the style of the time are supplied for the benefit of Auchan shoppers.

Hoping to generate increased footfall, this ‘Versailles Pop-Up’ offers visitors to the hypermarket the chance to take a ‘selfie XIV’ on front of reproductions of Le Brun’s paintings.
